One of the most commonly overlooked maintenance items on any vehicle is the engine air filter. The engine air filter prevents dust and other debris from entering your BMW's engine. Over the course of tens of thousands of miles the filter can become clogged up by dust and other debris restricting air flow into the engine. Smaller dust particles can also be sucked through the clogged filter resulting in additional, yet avoidable, engine wear.
